People to People
||Started by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, People to People has been sponsoring Student Ambassadors to Europe to promote international understanding while building leadership skills among America's youth. Travis Drescher is one of 40 students who will participate in the 20-day experience, which includes meeting with governmant officials, other students his own age, educational activities and hopme stays with host families. The screening process is extensive and covers years of preparation, however students must raise their own money through projects, fund raiseing events and donatioons. Pictured here is Worshipful Master Kemlin Hart presenting $300 to Travis Drescher at the "family dinner" on December 27th.
| To celebrate the Christmas Season and bring Masonic Charity home to Albert Lea, the Brothers voted to distribute the profits of November and December's Pancake Breakfasts to the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and the Food Pantry. |
That came to $300 each.
| Seen here are Lynn Berven, Jake Loper, Bill Sturtz and Bob Dammen presenting the extra large checks for the newspaper coverage.|
|On August 19, 2007 Rushford was hit by a record breaking flood. 2/3 of the structures in town sustained extensive damage. When the brothers of Albert Lea's Western Star Lodge #26 heard that Mystic Star Lodge # 69 in Rushford, lost it's kitchen, dining area, library, bathroom, furnace and stair climbing elevator, they voted to donate the proceeds of their October Pancake breakfast to help them. On December 4th, the first time that Mystic Star Lodge was able to get back in their Lodge Hall, three members of Western Star Lodge, Bob Hahn, Jake Loper and Steve Claybourne, made the trip over to Rushford and with them they took a check for $957.00 Plus a second check from the State Grand Lodge in matching funds.|
